What Social media Platforms Marketers Want To Learn More About
A recent report undertaken by Social Media Examiner asked marketers to identify which social media platforms they most want to improve their knowledge on. Facebook took first place, growing from 73% in 2016 to 80% in 2017. Instagram increased from 55% in 2016 to 71% in 2017. Snapchat also rose significantly, from 28% in 2016 to 42% in 2017.
Business to consumer (B2C) marketers are more interested in learning about:
- Facebook - 84% B2C vs. 73% Business to Business (B2B)
- Pinterest - 52% B2C vs. 41% B2B
- Instagram - 76% B2C vs. 61% B2B
Whereas B2B marketers are far more interested in learning about LinkedIn - 74% B2B vs. 58% B2C.
Paid social media
The report asked marketers to identify which forms of paid social media they regularly use.
The overwhelming majority (93%) use Facebook ads (up from 87% in 2016), followed by
Instagram ads (24%).
B2C marketers are using Facebook ads more (95%) than B2B marketers (87%). B2B
marketers are using LinkedIn ads more (29%) than B2C marketers (10%).
You can see from this that Facebook are still very much the number 1 player in the social media field, where they also own Instagram. However still worth considering LinkedIn, Twitter and YouTube as additional marketing platforms depending on your audience and content available.
