How to get Noticed on Instagram

When it comes to getting noticed on Instagram there are basic rules to follow, as would be the case with any social network: post regularly, interact with users, include an interesting description with your photos that will get other users attention. Following these brief points, which we outline below, will greatly improve your brand awareness.

Use Popular Hashtags

Tagging on Instagram isn’t just limited to your subject matter. However tagging your subject matter (especially in a business sense) is incredibly important, so always include what your photo is targeting (e.g. digital marketing). Using your photos based on the style of upload will also increase the level of reach and engagement. Hashtags based on your location are another great way to engage with your audience, as they will be able to see where you are geographically. N.B. popular Instagram hashtags that regulars use: #instagood, #photooftheday and more.

Give and Take

Like any social network or community, Instagram is all about engagement. It’s all about the give and take. The more you interact and give your time to other users, the more they will do the same for you, thus helping to build your brand! Instagram is one of the most responsive social media platforms out there, and businesses from a variety of different marketing segments are now beginning to understand this. Liking other users’ photos is a great way to get noticed, and leaving thoughtful comments is even better. The more you like photos shared by users outside of your network, the more you’ll gain both followers and likes, strengthening your brand awareness and customer loyalty. We’ve also found that when users like your photos, some of their friends and followers will notice you too.

Get Creative with your Photo-Editing

It’s a well-known fact that posts that look good on social media have a greater engagement. Instagram is no different so don’t limit yourself to Instagram’s filters. Also, if creating a graphical style post make sure you use a professional graphic design software such as Adobe Illustrator. Find the app (or software) that works for you, and put your mark on your photos by sticking to a distinctive style or niche - you’ll find it’s easier to get noticed and build a following. This will benefit your business as it will make you stand out from your competitors by generating good looking organic images and consumers will be more drawn to your page more than your competitors. It also shows you’re really savvy with social media (which will only increase your reputation)!

Get Featured by Instagram

Getting featured by Instagram could gain you thousands of followers per day, but that of course is easier said than done. Instagram hasn’t really let on how it chooses users to add to their ‘suggested users’ list. If you are added to the list, you’ll stay there for one week, giving you maximum exposure on the social network. (If you haven’t checked out the suggested user’s list before you can find it in the app under Settings > Find & Invite Friends > Suggested Users.)

Once you have become featured you will have gained a lot more attention both locally and worldwide.

Advertising on Instagram
